You Ask, We Answer

We always welcome the chance to answer any important questions you might have about dentistry or dental care. If you don’t have time to make a call or don’t want to wait for your next visit, check the FAQs below; we’ve put together answers to some of the questions that we’ve heard most often.

How Do I Know When It Is Time for a Checkup?

Dr. Courtin agrees with the American Dental Association’s recommendation that patients of all ages should have their teeth examined and cleaned two times every year. You should schedule your next dental appointment if your last one was more than six months age.

What is the Best Way to Replace My Missing Teeth?

The current gold standard of tooth replacement is dental implants, which can mimic the functions of your natural tooth roots and provide chewing strength and stability on par with your original teeth. For those who can’t get dental implants, we can also offer dentures and dental bridges depending on how many teeth you’ve lost.

I’m Scared of the Dentist; How Can You Help?

We have two sedation options for frightened and anxious patients. The first is nitrous oxide, which puts you in a relaxed state but will wear off quickly afterwards so that it doesn’t interfere with the rest of your day. The second is IV sedation, which puts you in an advanced state of relaxation that can soothe even the most severe dental phobias. You might not even remember what happened during your treatment after it’s complete.

What Should I Do If I Have a Dental Emergency?

If you have a sudden dental injury or experience severe pain, call our office right away. We have the training and equipment to handle toothaches, knocked out teeth, and other dental emergencies in house. We’ll make arrangements to see you as quickly as possible when you call with a request for urgent dental care.

Do I Need to Be Screened for Oral Cancer?

Everyone should be screened for oral cancer at least once a year no matter how old they are or what their risk factors are. We can very easily perform an oral cancer screening as part of a normal checkup and advise you on steps to take if there’s anything to be concerned about.

How Can I Improve My Smile?

That depends on what kind of changes you’re looking to make. We have a number of cosmetic services for getting rid of tooth stains, closing gaps, and hiding chipped teeth so that you can smile with full confidence.

Do You Take My Insurance?

If you belong to a major dental PPO, chances are we take your insurance. You can use our online insurance checker to confirm that we take your plan, and our team can explain your benefits in more detail if you call.
